Thank you! I did a lot of research for this piece. I wanted to use the colors, symbols and items that the Aztecs used pre-conquest. It was tough to research that because a lot of the Aztec history and artifacts were destroyed by the Spanish.

Description:

Ichpochtli means "young woman" in Nahuatl (ancient language of the Aztecs or Mexica). The symbol on each corner of the painting was their pictograph word for "flower".
